OGUN OWNED SECURITY OUTFIT, SO-SAFE-CORPS DEBUNKS INVOLVEMENT IN MURDER OF UNDERGRADUATE

The Commander said contrary to the insinuations by the Head of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria(VGN) , the arrested and paraded suspects over the matter were not members of the So Safe Corps , as also established by the Ogun State Police Command.

Penpushing further reports that, Ganzallo   while buttressing his claim said, the Commissioner of Police while parading the suspects on Wednesday affirmed that the suspects were members of the local vigilante group in the town known as ‘Yaluwon’, and has no affiliation whatsoever with the Corps.

He said, ”Our attention has just been drawn to the incident at Ijebo Igbo where a 400 level student of OOU (Olabisi Onabanjo University) was allegedly murdered by some vigilante group called ‘Yaluwon’ and we have been hearing from some certain set of the media that the So Safe Corps officers were involved’.

“I want to state here authoritatively that none of the three members of that vigilante group that were arrested happen to be an officer of the So Safe Corps”, the Commander declared, adding that the Head of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria was trying to be mischievous to have wrongly claimed that, the suspects were members of the Ogun State own security arms’

Penpushing also reports that, when asked if there was any rancour with anybody, the State Commander, said ”We, in the So Safe Corps don’t have any rancour with any organisation but the VGN Commander addressed a press conference and alleged that the three officers involved happens to be officers from the So Safe Corps.

“This is an issue that happened to involve the Police. The Commissioner of Police addressed press conference parading the suspects. The Commissioner of Police never mentioned the So- Safe- Corps. The PPRO Ogun State Command never mentioned the name of the So- Safe- Corps’.

‘I wonder why the VGN Commander must now come out authoritatively and stated that the three that were arrested are members of the So- Safe- Corps. I believe it’s an issue we can take up with the law and we may likely sue for Libel in this case”.

Penpushing also reports that, Ganzallo eulogized the relationship between the So- Safe- Corps and the Police, affirming that the relationship is very cordial. “Our relationship is very cordial’.

‘You can see that whatever we do, there is no operation that we embark upon that we will not involve the Police and even suspects that are arrested are being transferred to the Police for further investigation and likely prosecution’.

“That has been the way we have been handling issues here and security meetings even with the Governor. I attend meetings as one of the Security Chiefs in Ogun State. We are working with the Government so it is not possible for any of my officers that are being trained by the Ogun State Government and being trained by the Police Command to handle an issue the way it has been handled by these local vigilantes’, he stated.

“So we don’t know anything and we actually want to disassociate ourselves from such act. The good citizens of Ogun State know the way the So –Safe- Corps work. They know the way we have been assisting all the communities’.

He added, “we  are appointed to save, we can’t work against them and start killing them. Extra judicial killing is not part of our own duty in the So- Safe- Corps”, the commander emphasized and also  enjoins people to report any suspicious activities in their communities. “They should not hesitate to alert us immediately and we are ready to respond to their request at any time’
