OGUN FORMER GOVERNOR, DANIEL, OONI, OMISORE CONDOLES FASORANTI FAMILY
The former Governor stated that with the recent incident, Nigeria is gradually heading towards a dangerous precipice and the fear is that the people might be pushed to seeking alternative means of protecting themselves if governments at all levels are complacent in curbing the activities of hoodlums in whatever guise.
“It is high time we found a more proactive measure towards stemming the scourge that is gradually leading us to a state of anarchy. The activities of the hoodlums masquerading as herdsmen are becoming worrisome by the day and Nigerians, especially the people of the South West are becoming impatient watching their own people being killed nearly on daily basis.
Penpushing further reports that, in similar vein, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi condoled with the bereaved family describing the killing of the daughter of the 93 year old Pa Fasoranti by some suspected herdsmen along Benin/Ore expressway as unfortunate and condemnable.
The monarch in a statement signed by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare, expressed a huge dissatisfaction about the insecurity state of the country, calling on the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government to urgently put an end to this incessant kidnappings and robbery attacks which have recently led to the untimely deaths of countless number of people before it gets out of hand.
“Securing lives and properties of Nigerians is the primary responsibility of the government. What is happening to us in Yorubaland at the moment if not urgently curtailed by the government may force our people to come with a communal security approach which may not augur well for the unity of this country we have always laboured for”, he stated
“This is a disgusting payback to a man like Pa Fasoranti who has lived his life for the stability of this country. It is a height of terrorism which is highly condemnable regardless of the tribes involved; no one deserves to be killed’.
“It is sad to realize that Nigeria that used to be safe and conducive for all forms of legitimate activities has been reduced to an insecure entity where innocent citizens now lose their lives and properties to some faceless miscreants on daily basis.
“This sad development is no doubt a wakeup call on the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government, particularly to be ruthless in the fight against terrorism in any form in order to restore the peace and sanity of the country so that our people will not be compelled to take the law of justice in their own hands.
“I condole Pa Reuben Fasoranti, his immediate family and the Olakunrin family on this irreparable loss. I pray that the Almighty Olodumare (God) will comfort and uphold the families.” Ooni said.
Penpushing also reports that Ex-Osun State Deputy Governor, Otunba Iyiola Omisore in his own condolence message noted that the death of Olakunrin was a personal loss to Yoruba leader and huge regret to the country
Hear him, “I commiserate with the National leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio Political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti on the death of his daughter, Mrs Olufunke Olakunrin who was shot dead by some gunmen that reportedly attacked her and others on her way to Ondo on the Ore- Benin road on Friday”.
Penpushing further reports that, Omisore lamented that the killing of Mrs Olakunrin was shocking, unfortunate and sad at this particular period in the history of Nigeria, but, however, tasked Nigerians to be ready and give the necessary support to the security agencies in ensuring that we have a secured Nigeria to enhance the needed development in the country.
The former Osun State Deputy Governor stressed g that security agencies in the country should rise up to the insecurity challenges presently facing the country especially in the areas of the increasing spate of killings and kidnapping across the country. He then prayed that God will grant Pa Reuben Fasoranti, his entire family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
