OGUN DECLARES WAR AGAINST QUACK MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS
The Permanent Secretary described quackery as a way of indulging in practices outside one’s scope of knowledge, noting that the medical field is multi-faceted enough for practitioners, while lamenting that this untoward practice could lead to loss of lives and it is capable of maiming such that would make the victim to perform below the usual ability.
Penpushing further reports that, Ayinde pointed out that, the government knows how to reach out to quacks with the long hand off the law, stressing that. It is responsibility for various stakeholders to collaborate with the present administration to get rid of quacks in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, who commended the leadership of the School of Nursing, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, said the training will make the student- nurses upon graduation not to be desperate in their quest for white collar job and it would enable them to have an alternative source of income when they get their dream job.
The Principal of the School, Mrs. Dele Alonge, in her remarks called on the public to desist from patronizing unskilled health workers, pointing out whoever wishes to become medical practitioners should take the pain to go through training.
Penpushing also reports that, Alonge noted that the entrepreneurial skills as a course, being taught in the School of Nursing, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, was brought into the curriculum by the regulatory body to equip the nurses upon graduation with additional skill.
Speaking in an interview, two of the final year student nurses, Taoheed Eniola and Akinbona Gbenga, expressed satisfaction with the course, saying that it would afford them the opportunity to use their day-off from work judiciously.
Penpushing reports that, the students were trained in soap making, baking, head gear making and make-up respectively, among others.
