OGUN COMMISSIONS COMPUTERISED VEHICLE INSPECTION SERVICE
The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite, reassured traffic agencies in the State of his administration’s sustained collaborative efforts through the provision of equipment an enabling environment towards safeguarding lives and property on the road.
Penpushing further reports that, Amosun enjoined the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and the Police to ensure that vehicles plying highways are installed with speed limiters, while motorists comply with traffic rules, calling for training and retraining of their officers to keep them abreast of new technologies in road traffic management.
“Erroneously, people believe that once the road is good, the next thing is to over speed. We have had serious problem with all the roads we have developed within the State. The road itself, the vehicle and the driver constitute the three factors involved in safety. Government is trying its best to put this together, so that we have safety on our roads’.
‘’Over speeding and mechanical factors are probably the major culprits of most road crashes. By commissioning this, we should be able to reduce that aspect of mechanical faults and vehicles, so that we can ensure safety of lives and property on our highways”, Amosun said.
The Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Ademehin Olugboyega, earlier in his speech explained that the computerised machines would help in enforcing orderly and control mechanism in the road traffic system within the State.
Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who was represented by Tajudeen Giwa, in his remark appreciated the State Government for putting the edifice in place, which he said would not only be for commercial drivers, but also private vehicles, appealing to his colleagues to patronise the newly commissioned computerised vehicle inspection service, so as to make the roads safer for all.
