Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá cultural festival to hold February 9 in Abeokuta
The 2026 edition of Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá, an annual cultural and economic empowerment festival celebrating wealth, enterprise, and Egba heritage has been scheduled to hold on Monday, February 9, 2026, in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
Penpushing reports that the Chief Convener, Princess Kehinde Adelanwa-Sobayo, explained that the event is scheduled to commence by 10:00 a.m. at Oba Odeleye Park (Ori Omi), Sokori, Abeokuta.
The convener added that, the ceremony is organised under platform of Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá Initiative, established in 2024 to promote cultural pride, economic empowerment, and community development.
Penpushing further reports that Adelanwa-Sobayo added that Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá celebrates Ajé as an icon of wealth, prosperity, dignity of labour, and entrepreneurship, and is clearly positioned as a cultural and empowerment festival.
The convener stated that the platform debut in 2024, adding that the festival has become a recognised platform for empowering women, youths, traders, and artisans, supporting farmers and small-scale businesses, promoting Egba cultural values, unity, and enterprise and encouraging philanthropy and social responsibility
Penpushing also reports that she recalled that the 2025 edition attracted royal fathers, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and top government officials, including Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry who represented the governor.
The convener on what are in line for the 2026 edition said these include showcasing rich Egba cultural performances and exhibitions, expanded economic empowerment programmes, scholarship awards for selected primary and secondary school pupils, with special focus on less-privileged children and recognition of icons of wealth, enterprise, and philanthropy
Penpushing reports that Adelanwa-Sobayo, who is Iyalaje Oníré Ẹ̀gbá and Erelu Aje of Owu Kingdom described Odún Ajé as a celebration of values that define the Egba people.
‘Odún Ajé Oníré Ẹ̀gbá is about celebrating wealth as responsibility, enterprise as culture, and prosperity as a tool for community development. It is a platform where our heritage meets empowerment, and where culture inspires economic growth, especially for women and the younger generation’, she said.
