OBASANJO BAGS PhD IN CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY

Boulevard, Oke mosan, Abeokuta ‎ The panel also expressed satisfaction on the about 250 page thesis spanning about an hour and 30 minutes defense His thesis is titled: “Resolving The‎ Unfinished Agenda In Liberation Theology: Leadership, Poverty And Underdevelopment In The North Eastern Nigeria.”

The panelists are Dr. Mande Samaila (Dean, Postgraduate School, NOUN) as Chairman, Prof. Cletus Gotan (External Supervisor), Prof. Deji Ayegboyin (Major Supervisor), Dr. Mustapha Raheem Adejoro, (Head of Department, Religious Studies (NOUN), Prof. Nebath Tanglang (Rep. School of Postgraduate Studies, (NOUN) and Prof. Godwin Akper (Internal Supervisor and Dean, Faculty of Arts, NOUN).

The External examiner, Prof. Gotan in his remark noted that despite the‎ observations made, the former President showed the caliber of person he is,adding that,’no work is perfect, but, this is perfect by the magnitude of‎ the work done,”. ‎ The panelists after the about 60 minute assessment and cross assessment of the work, directed Obasanjo to excuse them and barely 15 minutes later was called back into the hall.

The panel chairman, Dr. Samaila Mande, justified need why he(Obasanjo) should be awarded a PhD degree of the institution,explaining that he had put in “enough study” and “intellectual rigours” to produce his work based on diligent guide and supervision from his teachers and supervisors. Mande while further reporting the assessment said that Obasanjo‎ with matriculation no. NOU14605890, has satisfied the requirements and thus qualified for the award of Doctor of Philosophy degree in Christian Theology of NOUN.

He pointed out that,it was a thing joy to him personally, as the former President happened to be one of the pioneer students to bag PhD in Christian Theology under his management, hinting that the feat would be well celebrated during the NOUN convocations early next year.
