OBASANJO, AMOSUN, DANIEL, KAWONISE FELICITATES WITH CHRISTIANS AT CHRISTMAS

The former Nigerian leader said, the importance of peace now is very important in view of the growing insecurity in the country, and   expressed delight on the service, pointing out that the current situation in the country was not encouraging.

“The situation is getting worrisome by the day. I was in Kaduna and I thought that the story would be different. The people there said insecurity, kidnapping and killings are happening.  If peace elude us, it is not an act of God, but, our making. That is why I am happy that our Bishop in his sermon also talked about peace. This is the appropriate time to talk about peace; this is the season of peace.”

“It will be a year of blessings for each one, and particularly for Nigeria. When people come to me and say they are giving up on the country, I tell them no, that next year is year of blessings for all. With right statements, right actions, people will be trooping back into the country. We had it before, there is no reason not to have it again,” Obasanjo said.

Penpushing also reports that, the Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, in his own message admonished Christians faithful to imbibe the spirit of love, peace and perseverance and to also exhibit the virtues of faithfulness, honesty and kindness, which Jesus Christ manifest.

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ today, there is no conceivable alternative for our Christian brothers and sisters, other than renew their minds towards living the life Jesus Christ lived, while on earth.

“In the midst of the merriment, we should reflect on the ideals He preached and practised, which are love, peace and tolerance. just as his birth was heralded with joy, we should continually be joyful, despite our challenges, hopeful for a more prosperous nation”, Amosun added.

The governor said as the 2019 general elections is fast approaching; all Christians must continue to pray for peaceful polls and the emergence of God fearing leaders, adding that, “we are all stakeholders in the project Nigeria, and so, we should not relent in lending our voices in prayer for a new Nigeria.

Penpushing further reports that,  former Governor of Ogun State and Deputy Chairman, (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (South), Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Danie on his own part  assured Nigerians of a meaningful change in the polity and return to good governance that will guarantee equitable distribution of democratic dividends in all spheres of our daily lives.

The former Governor in his goodwill message on the occasion of celebration of Christmas, rejoiced with Christian faithful  on the lessons taught by the life and times of Jesus Christ urging them to reflect on the basic tenets of Christianity which harkened on perseverance, faithfulness, determination and peace.

He pointed out that, the country, has had its share of unrest, anxiety and other social turbulence in recent past and which we are being  reminded of every day but our history of resilience, and our traditions of religious faith and individual courage continue to inspire us with the confidence in the prospect of a brighter future.

“Irrespective of our religious affiliations, we can draw immense strength and inspiration from the enduring legacies of the life of Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for the redemption of our souls”, he said.

“As we celebrate Christmas and progress into the New Year which is also another election year, we should be determined and make sure we put in place responsible and effective leadership for a quick end to regrettable upheavals and threats to peace and security in different parts of the country as well as positive turn around in the dwindling fortunes of the nation’s economy”.

He noted that, as the year draws to a close, he called on all Nigerians to focus on the true meaning of the Season which is to bring hope into our lives and share the Christmas promise of peace and goodwill among us all regardless our political, religion and ethnic background.

Similarly, Governorship Candidate of Yes Party, Sina Kawonise in his own message urged Ogun residents not to despair inspite of all challenges,while congratulating residents for being alive to witness another Christmas.

He encouraged the people to be of good cheers as help is on the way, stating that, “our people should not despair but live in the great hope that the coming 2019, the election year, when we’ll have the opportunity to elect competent, credible and God-fearing leaders to pilot the affairs of government, will change the narrative of negativities of our lives for the better.”

“This season of goodwill presents us an opportunity to reflect on how we got to the current sorry pass where the least qualified among us emerged to bear rule over us. With the opportunity to choose new leaders through our votes, we as a people must look for competent, capable and God-fearing ones among those canvassing for votes to give the mandate of leadership to.

“Experience has taught us that those who take advantage of the poverty in the land and induce our people with materials things procured with ill-gotten wealth, turn out to be purveyors of the bad governance that presses our people deeper into poverty, misery and insecurity.”

Penpushing reports that, Kawonise,  a former Information Commissioner in the State, therefore, enjoins residents of  the  State to shun vote selling in the coming elections and choose credible candidates which YES Party presents as its flag-bearers in all the electoral offices.

The statement while wishing  residents a Merry Christmas, concludes by assuring the people that God has heard the cries of the suffering masses and Has raised for them, through YES Party, new crop of leaders who’ll do His will in service delivery to the people and righteousness in the land.
