Non-Governmental Organisation establishes School for Blind in Abeokuta

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Akinpelu Aredokun Access Foundation has established a private institution for the benefits of the visually impaired people, which is located at number Oke-Temidire Opposite Crown Royal Hotel, off Moshood Abiola Way Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

Penpushing reports that the institution known as Akinpelu Aredokun Access School For The Blind recently commenced academic activities with four teachers and five students, with spacious classrooms and facilities for its operations

The profile of the school which has been registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and equally registered with the Ogun State Government explained that its mission includes to enable the visually impaired on how to overcome the barriers and their challenges to have individuals’ independence, as well as to create an atmosphere that will bring a new thought of life

Penpushing further reports that the profile added that vision statement is to be a leading institution that provides exceptional educational opportunities, enabling blind and visually impaired students to become successful and contributing members of society.

Penpushing also reports that the authorities in a statement disclosed that the foundation was established October 1, 2013, and it was established to promote the life of people with disability and sponsored their educational career and empowerment.

‘Since 2014 till date we have been able to sponsored 5 students to school, namely, Segun Samuel Alluayah, but presently, in University of Lagos. Itoma Tobiloba, he has also finished his Youth Corps service’

‘Emmanuel Gabriel, a vocational training teacher in our school. Adebayo Tobiloba, she is presently in her 2nd year in Federal College of Education Oyo Special. Lawal Omowunmi and Sonola Iyanuoluwa, they are both in SS2 Class in Adeniran Memorial Grammar School Ogbomosho.

‘We been also empower 8 people with two grinding machines, two people with petty trading, one generator 1.9kv for phone charging business, two 25litre of kerosine for two people and so forth.
