NO JUSTIFICATION USING GOVERNMENT’S LAWYER FOR YOUR ELECTION-RELATED MATTER, SUPREME COURT TELLS BUHARI

The judge while querying the counsel that represented the President asked if Buhari was sued in his capacity as President or as a private citizen, and, the counsel (Abubakar) replied saying “Buhari was sued as a private citizen.”

Penpushing reports that, Justice Dattijo who is a member of the five panel delivering judgment on the suit told Buhari’s lawyer that a former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, “sponsored his own litigation personally, without involving the Ministry of Justice.”

The court faulted the use of taxpayers money to work on private litigation for Buhari  describing  it as a contravention of the provisions of the Code of Conduct for public officers, stating that, “It is inappropriate, the representation of  Buhari by the Senior State Counsel of the Ministry of Justice in his personal capacity and not as Nigerian President,” .
