Nigeria’s security services uncover plot to install interim government
The State Security Services (SSS), on Wednesday disclosed a plot by some key players in plotting an unconstitutional interim government for Nigeria, the plot the agency considered as an aberration and a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis.
Penpushing reports that the spokesperson of the agency Peter Afunanya in a statement said the plotters, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, sponsoring endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency, among others.
“Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels. The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace-loving Nigerians”, the statement said
Penpushing further reports that the State Security Service(SSS) In its statement, warned those organising to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their schemes and orchestrations, and called on stakeholders including the judiciary, media and civil society to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert the peace and stability of the nation.
The statement emphasized that the security body said while its monitoring continues, it will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against persons with such intentions, adding that its in support of the President and Commander-in-Chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover

Penpushing also reports that it is recalled that in the build up to the general elections there has been a speculation and apprehension about plot to install interim government in the country, as a way to prevent general elections to hold.
