Nigerian raise over N4million for physically-challenged protesters

Two physically-challenged who joined protesters to end the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) now have course to smile, following the raising the sum of N4million for them

Penpushing reports that, the beneficiaries include; Jane and Charles Nnaman who despite their disability joined other youths in the protest, a development which went viral on social media, and thereby attracted some donors.

The protesters in one of the pictures loaded on social media tagged Jane as protest heroine for not allowing her physical challenge to deter her from joining the protest, while records also showed that, she’s been unemployed since 2013 partly because of her disability, and same vein, Charles Nnaman, with the same challenge led the protest from Stadium to Bode Thomas in Surulere, despite having one limb.

Penpushing further reports that, Medical Doctor on Twitter Chinonso Egemba, known as Aproko doctor, was said to have kick started the fundraising for her after identifying the need for a prosthetic leg for her to enable her walk.

Penpushing also reports that, in less than two hours of creating the Gofundme account, the target of N500,000 had been reached, while less than 24 hours for the launch the protesters have raised over N4 million.

The Aproko Doctor as fondly called, thereafter, increased the target to N1. 5 million, pointing out that the lady protester needs to get the best quality prosthetic leg as there is a team of Doctors who have volunteered to assemble the leg without collecting a dime.

“I created the donate link for Jane with a 30 day period in mind for 500,000. I thought Nigerians were stretched thin from giving for the #EndSARS protests. Said a little prayer then posted the link. In less than 4 hours, we raised 3.2 Million naira and counting .A new Nigeria!,” he tweeted.

Penpushing reports that, information has it as at the time of filing this report,the donation is ongoing to get the protesters prosthetic limbs, with a volunteer to assemble the prostheses at no cost.
