Nigerian Non-Governmental Organization loses frontline member
The umbrella body of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) in Nigeria has lost one of the leading and proactive member, Kunle Adeogun to the cold hands of death at a Lagos Hospital at age 62, after a brief illness.
Penpushing reports that the demise of Adeogun who was Director of Finance, Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) was made known through the platform of the Child Protection Network (CPN), which he was a member until his death.
The announcement of Adeogun’s death on the platform met number of the members with shock and disbelief, as many of them pointed out that, as at last time they saw him, there was no sign of any ailment or death.
Penpushing further reports that members of the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) in their various condolence messages described the demise of their colleague as heavy blow to them as individual and as a body.
The founding member of Child Protection Network (CPN), Ogun State Chapter, Sina Adefolahan in his reaction over the sudden death, expressed dismay and lamented the loss, describing the late colleague as very resourceful
‘Who are we to query the will of God? We lost a refined, humble, caring, objective, industrious one in Kunle Adeogun last night. Good night uncle Kunle’, Adefolahan wrote in his condolence message
Penpushing also reports that the pioneer Chairperson of Child Protection Network (CPN), Ogun State Chapter, Peju Osoba in her message of condolence pointed out that the deceased was a man of peace, who was always readily available to assist
‘Mr Kunle Adeogun was a man of peace. He was also always ready to lend a hand whenever it was required of him. He will be greatly missed by all of us especially the Child Protection Network, not just in Ogun and Lagos States but the whole Nigeria’, Osoba wrote
Penpushing reports that Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, founder of Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) said in her own condolence message that the late Adeogun was a great asset to the civil society
‘Uncle Kunle as he is popularly known was a great asset to the civil society, excellent professional and a leader of thoughts. We will miss this great bridge builder with a good eye for perfection’, Abiola-Akiyode stated.
The founder of Penpushing Media, and pioneer Media Adviser of Child Protection Network(CPN),Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji lamented the untimely demise of Adeogun, who he described as gentleman and responsible friend and well as a reliable colleague in the civil society world
‘I woke up to read this sad news. The death of Adeogun was difficult to believe. He was gentle and responsible friend and colleague in the world of NGO. My last encounter with him was when he invited me for a media coverage in Lagos. Honestly I am devastated on the loss. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace’, Kayode-Adedeji wrote
Penpushing further reports that the family in a released burial arrangements said Christian Wake Keep is scheduled for Wednesday 15th February at St Peter’s Faji , Lagos State by 4pm, to be followed with Commendation service on Thursday at same church by 10am, and same day a night of tributes at Anglican Church of The Healing Cross Kemta Housing Estate ,Abeokuta by 5pm -7pm, while a funeral service is to take place on Friday, February 17,2023 by 10am at St Peter’s Cathedral Ake, Abeokuta.
