Nigerian medical student allegedly murdered in Philippines
A Nigerian medical student identified as Ikem has been allegedly murdered in the Philippines, after the attackers tied his hands up, covered and tied his mouth and beat him blue-black until he gave up the ghost.
Penpushing reports that the shocking disclosure was made known on a post made on social networking platform X by Michael Ojuola, who said his victim friend (Ikem) was “brutally murdered by a group of Chinese.
‘They tied his hands up, covered and tied his mouth and beat him blue-black until he gave up the ghost. This should never be allowed to get swept under the carpet regardless of the relationship between the Philippines and China’, he wrote.
Penpushing further reports that Ojuola in the post while calling on Nigerian authorities to act, emphasisised that the act was inhuman and barbaric, lamenting that following the sad development he could not straight again
The post later caught the attention of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the Nigerian agency responsible for diaspora issues and in response through its official handle on X, asked Ojuola if the situation was formally brought to the attention of the Nigerian Embassy there in the Philippines?
Penpushing also reports that the agency, however, asked that details of the incident be shared officially to enable the agency to follow up with the Nigerian embassy in the Philippines, adding that the authorities will definitely look into the matter once it get information
