The member representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuape, has reiterated his commitment to youth development and education through his annual summer coaching initiative.
Penpushing reports that Afuape made this known on Tuesday at the 4th edition of the summer coaching which is part of his constituency programme held at St. Peter’s Anglican School, Ake, Abeokuta.
The summer coaching classes brought together students from various secondary schools including Abeokuta Grammar School, Lantoro Senior Secondary School, and others.

Penpushing further reports that Afuape at the opening session, taught the students on the topic “International Trade”, and charged them to embrace hard work as the only pathway to lasting success in life.
The federal lawmaker warned against shortcuts such as internet fraud, stressing that diligence, consistency, and focus on education remain the surest ways to achieve greatness.
‘There is no escape route in life except hard work. This era of cutting corners will never help anybody. I believe many of you have great prospects, and the sky will be your starting point if you remain diligent,” Afuape told the students.
Penpushing also reports that he explained that the initiative, which predates his election into the House of Representatives, is his personal project designed to engage students productively during the long vacation and to ease the financial burden on parents who cannot afford private coaching.
The former Commissioner in Ogun State added that students who distinguish themselves in the programme will be rewarded with scholarships and other forms of educational support, noting that the project would soon be registered as Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) to ensure its sustainability beyond his tenure in office.

Penpushing reports that he equally distributed exercise books to the participants, while encouraging them to take the programme seriously, as their performance is monitored annually through tests and assessments.
The summer coaching initiative, which has run consistently for the past four years, continues to serve as a platform for academic enrichment, mentorship, and youth empowerment in Abeokuta South.
Penpushing further reports that Akintade Tijesuni Susanna, an SS3 student of Abeokuta Grammar School, commended Afuape for giving students access to quality learning free of charge, which ordinarily costs thousands of naira per subject in private centres.
The students, alongside many others, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker and the team of volunteer teachers and coordinators, prayed for them and urged fellow students to make the most of the opportunity.
Penpushing another beneficiary Oliyide Mabuub Ayomide, an SS3 Science student of Lantoro Senior Secondary School, praised the programme for boosting students’ academic confidence and fostering a culture of excellence within the community.
