Coronavirus: Nigerian government reverses resumption of schools

The Nigerian Government has reversed its earlier announcement on school resumption, and also disclosed that, the proposed West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WAEC) earlier scheduled for August 5 to September 5 has being put on hold.

Penpushing reports that Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu made this known whle speaking with State House Correspondents, at the end of the Federal Executive Meeting (FEC) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT)

The Minister declared that s Nigerian schools will not reopen any time soon until it is safe to do so because of the coronavirus pandemic, adding that final year students preparing for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) will not be allowed to return to school contrary to the earlier announcement.

Penpushing further reports that, Adamu explained that the West African Examination Council(WAEC)  cannot determine the resumption date of schools in the country, stressing that it was preferable students lose an academic year than to expose them to dangers.
