Nigerian government suspends executive jet services for flying naira marley for concert in abuja, shut host jabi lake mall

The Nigerian Government has suspended Executive jet services that conveyed the controversial musician, Azeez Fashola popularly called Naira Marley and ex-BB Naija housemate, Kim Oprah, to Abuja for a concert, inspite of the lockdown order in view of the coronavirus pandemic

Penpushing reports that, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made this known on Monday, explaining that the flight was approved for a different purpose – to convey a serving judge from Lagos to Abuja and back, on official assignment.

The Minister while briefing journalists on the Presidential Task Force update on coronavirus in Abuja   said, contrary to this, the airline, violated the approval and remained suspended indefinitely

Penpushing further reports that, Sirika declared that the flight crew will be punished for providing misleading information while the flight captain will also be sanctioned for providing false information.

“We approved a flight indeed, but not for any musician. The approved flight was to convey a justice on official assignment, but ExecuJet illegally used it to convey musician to Abuja for a concert. We have suspended ExecuJet’s operations indefinitely, (it) will also be fined,” he said.

Penpushing also reports that, in similar development, Jabi Lake Mall which hosted the concert had been sealed on the order of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for violating the ban on public gatherings.

The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad made this known this on Twitter on Sunday, while the Federal Capital Territory Administration also announced its decision to lock up the mall on Sunday afternoon via Twitter.

“The FCT Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19 seals up Jabi Lake Mall indefinitely for violating Presidential Task Force’s directives on the ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of the dreaded pandemic in the territory,” it tweeted.

Penpushing reports that, the decision of the Federal Capital Territory Administration followed the judgment of Magistrate Idayat Akonni of  a Mobile Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja, while it was also noted that, asides violating the rules of social distancing and the use of face masks in public places, the concert breached the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew in the territory.
