NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CALLS TO REDUCE GAP BETWEEN THE RICH AND POOR

The President in an exclusive telephone interview with Penpushing noted that Nigeria is gradually becoming a difficult place to live, ‘because we now have insurgency, kidnappings, banditry, rape, and robbery all around the country’.

 “Government should create social, political and economical environment for the growth and development of the youth, and reduce the gap between the rich and poor because most of the problem Nigeria is facing today are product of social, political and economic insecurity”, he emphasised

Penpushing further reports that, Mustapha said, “Government should put in place, policies that will improve humanity in place because people are no more excited, so when people are pushed to the wall, they can do and undo.”

The Oyo State Secretary of the Steering Committee on Child Labour, Pastor Marcus Williams described humanitarian as any materials or logistics assistance giving to the people in need  of help, adding that as an organisation, they gives humanitarian response to secure every child and women.

“We ensure that whatever social protection response we give is sustainable, we have provided alternative care response for vulnerable women and children, and ensure that people living with HIV disease have access to treatment and care and also alleviate the plight of their children, we also ensure that children stay in school, and we work with stakeholders and private sectors to wage war against child labour.”

The scribe, however noted that the challenges facing by the organisation is non-availability of relevant infrastructure such as non-existence of family court which would have reduce violation of Child Right Act law, calling on the government to ensure that all the state and local government institutions and structures responding to humanitarian activities are efficient and functional.

Penpushing also reports that a physically challenged, Wasiu Adanla from Ibadan North Local Government of Oyo State noted that Governor Seyi Makinde should fulfill his electioneering promise by establishing Ministry for physically challenged people (people living with disability)

Penpushing also noting that disability does not mean inability because what able can do, disable can do better, “so people and the government should care for us, there should not be discrimination between us and the able body, always encourage them, assist them, send them to school and let them feels among.”

“During the electioneering campaign and swearing in of Governor Makinde, he has promised us to established a Ministry for physically challenged people (people living with disability), although he has already given us executive special adviser of disability matters but this is not enough, this is a portfolio that was given individuals and it is a political appointee.”

“We want the Governor to fulfill his promise help the less privileged to achieve their dreams so that they can also contribute to the development and growth of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole”

“There was a time I was aspiring for the post of Oyo State House of Assembly, people shouted me down by saying that how someone like me can governed them, and disability people are facing a lot of challenges in the society which suppose not to be.”

“There was a bill we sent to the State House of Assembly on disability matters titled: “Proper Inclusion of People with Disability in Government” which we want the house to pass into law for the benefit of the disability people.”

“The content of the bill include giving scholarship for 50 physically challenged people, giving councillorship appointment to physically challenged people across the state, provision of specific budgeting allocation to disabilities, creation of Ministry for disabilities.”
