NIGERIAN COUPLE RAISES ALARM OVER ‘SEIZURE’ OF INTERNATIONAL PASSPORTS BY BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION
The British High Commission in response to the applications wrote the couple in a letter with reference number [email protected] dated June 6 and reads, ’Thank you for your visa/entry clearance application which has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days and settlement applications within 60 working days (unless you have opted for a Priority Visa Service)’
The letter added, ’We are unable to resolve your application within these customer service targets, as the processing of your application has not been straightforward. Please be assured that we will continue to progress you
Penpushing further reports that, in another letter dated May 17, with reference numbers GWF 051821699 and GWF051831520 by the British High Commission to the applicants reads, ’Your Visa application has been send to the Decision Making Centre for processing. This is a post that is not monitored please do not reply to this address….’
However, the couple worried by the silence of the Commission over their applications said it is amazing that, months after appearance for visas, the Consular had failed to communicate them, either to issue visa for them, nor return their International Passports, which is still in their custody.
The petition dated July 29 with caption, ’Complaint on Issuance of UK Travelling Visa and Non-Return of Passports’, stated thus, ’myself and my wife Victoria, presented ourselves for interview at the TLS Contact Office, Ikeja, Lagos and also submitted our passports as demanded on 17th May,2019’
‘However, up till my writing this missive, nothing has been heard from VLS on the state of our application. It is clearly above 10 weeks since our interview and passport submission. The continued denial of our travelling passports with or without visas is to say the least, agonizing and frustrating. We have had no reasons to use our passport for other purposes since then’
‘Consequently, I am appealing that our passports with our visas should be compassionately returned to us by Friday, 2nd August, as they are needed urgently for other travelling purposes. If for any unknown or foreseen reasons our visas are not forthcoming, we will thankfully receive our passports’, the couple emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that, the petition was received by a Senior Guard of the Embassy, David Inyi, who signed the receipt on July 30, 2019
