Nigerian army troops rescue 24 kidnapped victims, eliminate abductors in shootout

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that,troops of 223 Battalion, operating under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, North West Operations Hadarin Daji have rescued 24 kidnap victims, with four of the bandits annihilated during a crossfire.
Penpushing reports that Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier Onyema Nwachukwu who established this said the feat was recorded in a rescue  operation conducted in the early hours of July 7, 2023 at Kabigu Lamba, an abandoned village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Director of Army Relations added that among the rescued 24 kidnapped victims include a child, after a shootout with notorious bandits, stressing that the gallant troops led by the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, stalked and swooped on the bandits, annihilating 4 of them in a ferocious fire fight that ensued.
Penpushing further reports that Nwachukwu emphasised that the victims, including a minor, 9 females and 14 males have been extricated and evacuated from the kidnappers’ hideout by the troops.
