The Nigerian government has announced free Cesarean sections for pregnant women in need, as part of its efforts to reduce the country’s maternal mortality rate, an initiative said to be ambitious commitment to reducing maternal and newborn mortality across Nigeria
Penpushing reports that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Pate, disclosed this gesture at the launch of ongoing three-day Nigeria Health Sector-Wide Joint Annual Review in Abuja.
The Minister who is a Professor explained in a tweet from the official X handle of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare pointed out that no woman should lose her life simply because she cannot afford a C-section.
