New leadership for journalists in ogun state television inaugurated

The new leadership of Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has been inaugurated to run affairs of the chapter for the next three years, with a called on the executive to let unity be their watchword.

Penpushing reports that,  the rancor free election produced  Bisi Alarape as Chairman, Bukola Agbakaizu(Vice Chairman),Kunle Ibikunle(Secretary),Moses Ojewunmi(Assistant Secretary),Bolaji Akinyemi (Treasurer),Charity James(Financial Secretary) and Remi Adebiyi(Auditor)

The swearing ceremony supervised by the Caretaker Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Omolara  Adeyinka took place at the newsroom of the station located along Abeokuta-Ajebo road in the state capital.

Penpushing further reports that, in her acceptance speech, the chapel chairman pledged to lead the union alongside other elected officers to greater height, and ensure equality in the scheme of operations for members across board

The chapel boss added that, the administration will approach issues with dialogue rather than confrontation, stressing that she would also ensure that there is no dive and rule as the administration lasted.

‘We can achieve many things with dialogue, we will not engage in confrontation, and am pledging on behalf of the team, to ensure transparency and accountability. I will lead the chapel to greater height, there will be equal treatment and no divide and rule’, Alarape said

Penpushing also  reports that, the Caretaker Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Omolara Adeyinka  commended the chapel over peaceful conduct of election, which was wholeheartedly accepted by all members.

The union leader said the executive and members should avoid confrontational approach with the management if there are issues to be addressed, adding that, it would be better for them to engage in dialogue to get results

Penpushing reports that, Adeyinka charged the new executive to let unity of purpose be vital to their administration, and should take time to tap from the wisdom of the elders and leaders on the union.

The Chairman while commending the station to regular payment of the union due, however, advised the new executive to see welfare of their members as paramount, as well as working in cordial with the management of the staff.

The Manager News of the State, Biodun Alabi in his remarks commended the electoral body for conducting acceptable, credible and rancor free election, stressing that the station is a one family in terms of operations.

Penpushing further reports that, Alabi , however, tasked the executive on the importance of capacity building for members, which he pointed out that, that is the way forward now in journalism practice, stressing that training and re-training of the practitioners should be considered paramount.

The representative of the  Radio Television Workers Union(RATTAWU), Kunle Idowu in his brief remarks appealed to the team  to always cooperate with the management of the station for the success of both workers and the station.

Penpushing reports that, Idowu also solicited for continued synergy between Radio and Television Workers Union(RATTAWU) and Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ)  of the station, stressing that, this has been factor for the promotional growth of the station.

The General Manager of the station, Festus Kehinde in his speech, while congratulating the new officers of the chapel, pointed out that, the station has always being pacesetter in journalism practice, which parades qualified and quality professionals.

Penpushing further reports that, Kehinde represented by Seyi Oladimeji, a top management staff of the station said, ‘In OGTV we are always pacesetters here, we are one big family, and that is why we produced qualitative officers in the rancor free election’

‘I have no doubt in my mind that with the team,the chapel will go places.Let us take our job seriously, being OGTV staff should be paramount,it is platform to be NUJ members’, the television station boss told the executive
