NEW COMMISSIONER OF POLICE DEPLOY TO TROUBLED PLATEAU

Penpushing, however, reports that, before his new assignment as Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, he was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abuja.

He had also served as head of operations, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, and joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1999 with the rank of Superintendent of Police.

Penpushing recalled that, about 100 people were killed over the weekend in Plateau in violence linked to herdsmen, a development many Nigerians have condemned the security situation in the North-central state.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the police and the air force announced the deployment of more personnel and aircraft to the state to prevent further violence.
