National Orientation Agency cautions Nigerians against inflammatory comments
The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has called on Nigerians including the security agencies against the use of inflammatory and provocative statements capable of hitting up the polity and plunge the country into unwarranted crisis.
Penpushing reports that, Ogun State Director of the agency, Kolawole Obadina made the call while delivering a paper at a two-day retreat organized by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command for its Divisional Officers.
The progamme with the theme ‘Enhancing Professionalism Through Capacity Building” was held at the Federal Secretariat Conference Room, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
The Director who spoke on the topic “Diplomacy in the Contemporary Society”, also charged the Divisional Officers to be diplomatic in performing their functions as security personnel commissioned to be civil and humane.
Penpushing further reports that, Obadina commended the orgnaizers of the retreat and for inviting the agency to speak on such important topic, expressing desire of the agency to continue to partner with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to further strengthen the existing relationship for a better Nigeria.
The Director charged the defence corps to embrace the use of diplomacy more often than force while interacting with the civil society, as well as other sister agencies stressing that it is capable of solving disputes without rancour and resentment.
Penpushing also reports that, he noted that the use of diplomacy is capable of enhancing intelligent gathering ability of the organization for better performance of its functions, stressing that the method will bring about increase in trust among their colleagues and sister security agencies .
The agency boss counsel them to build credibility and respect through their words and actions; speak confidently, diplomatically and tactfully in difficult situations and display high level of experience while performing their duties.
Penpushing reports that, Obadina urged the officers to build rapport and strengthen good relationship among colleagues devoid of provocation and as well avoid emotional influences while carrying out their duties.
The Director said in ensuring the above, the officers must embrace the national core values of discipline, integrity, patriotism, hardwork, religious tolerance, dignity of labour and self reliance and internalize the values so as to live above board in their dealings with the public.
Penpushing further reports that, Obadina called on the officers to display high level of maturity, tact, decorum and diplomacy in handling issues at this time that the country is going through various challenges.
The Director assured that the agency will continue to engage all citizens at different segments of the society for positive attitudinal change and the right mindset to move the country to greatness, stressing need for citizens to exhibit the change they wish to see in others by doing the right thing for Nigeria to achieve greatness.
