Oyo state journalists mourn former chairman, Joe Abiola

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council on Thursday mourned the demise of the former chairman, of the union Joe Abiola, popularly called Atuma, a man described as a rallying point as union leader

Penpushing reports that, a statement signed by the Secretary of the union, Sola Oladapo, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital noted that Abiola was a cerebral and highly disciplined union leader whose stint as council boss would be remembered for countless welfare packages to members across all Chapels.

The union boss, Ademola Babalola while announcing the demise on Friday regretted that Pa Joe Abiola left when his wise counsel as a veteran union leader was most needed, and lauded his contributions to the developmental growth of the council.

Penpushing further reports that the union  condoled the family of the late former chairman, the veterans and indeed all journalists in the state and enjoined them to take solace in the fact that he served God and humanity to the best of his ability.

Meanwhile, the union prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and  asked its  members to remember the families left behind by the late Abiola in their prayers.
