My collapse rumour emanated from political machinations, says Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, said his rumoured collapsed at event in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and rushed abroad for treatment emanated from political machinations.

Penpushing reports that the controversial politician explained this while addressing journalists to equally dismissed the rumour on Thursday, attributing the fake news to those seeking to divert attention from serious allegations of planned attacks on national assets.

The Minister said the allegations including planned attack on the Rivers State House of Assembly complex as revealed by a former Head of Service of Rivers State government.

Penpushing further reports that the Director of Press in the Minister’s office Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press, in a statement said Wike spoke on the issue during a routine inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects slated for inauguration in May to commemorate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.

“What happened was that the former Head of Service of Rivers State government came out to let the public know what was going on about a plan to bomb the House of Assembly complex and attack national assets. To divert the attention of people from focusing on that, they had to bring up rumours that I had been flown overseas. There was never a time I collapsed, there was never a time anybody took me overseas’, Wike said.

Penpushing also reports that the rumour had spread widely on X, alleging that Wike collapsed at an event in Abuja last Friday and was subsequently rushed out of the country for treatment, but he has since made a public appearance, appearing in high spirits, when he joined other dignitaries on a Sallah homage during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
