Musiliu Onifade, Baale Ilagbe celebrates 10th anniversary on throne, installs new chiefs

The Baale of Ilagbe Village in Itoko land, Abeokuta, Chief Musiliu Adeniyi Onifade on Saturday celebrated 10th anniversary on the throne with the installation of new chiefs to strengthen traditional governance in the community

Penpushing reports that the colourful ceremony was held at Astoria Hall, off Elite Road, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital and drew dignitaries, community leaders, family members and well-wishers from within and outside Ogun State

The anniversary celebration, which blended cultural practices with modern festivities, marked a major milestone for Ilagbe community under the leadership of Onifade, who is Ilufemiloye Lukoto I

Penpushing further reports that the event reaffirmed the traditional values of Ilagbe, as several prominent individuals were elevated into various chieftaincy positions, while it was established that Onifade’s decade-long reign has witnessed growth, stability and increased cohesion among residents.

The celebration in same vein, served as a reunion for many sons and daughters of Ilagbe who returned home to honour the Baale, reflect on the progress recorded over the years and reaffirm their commitment to the village’s socio-cultural advancement.

Penpushing also reports that during interview session he expressed gratitude to God and the people of Ilagbe for their unwavering loyalty throughout his 10-year journey as the head of the community.

The Baale described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, and equally highlighted betrayal among some associates as one of the most significant challenges encountered in the course of his leadership.

Penpushing reports that he recalled that, such situations were escalated to higher traditional leaders for intervention, a mechanism he said ensured timely reconciliation and prevented conflicts from escalating.

The Community Head explained that these interventions played a crucial role in maintaining harmony within the community and sustaining the progress recorded in recent years, just as he offered prayers for continued mutual cooperation between the people and the throne

‘It is very serious. There is betrayal… they betrayed their men. When I later reported to the leader, they called them. We settled it. So, there’s no problem, unity has since been restored’, he stated.

Penpushing further reports that Onifade used the occasion to thank Ilagbe indigenes and residents for standing by his administration through the years, describing their support as the backbone of the community’s progress.

The event featured traditional music, dancing, prayers and blessings from elders, as well as goodwill messages from guests who commended the Baale for maintaining peace and order in Ilagbe over the past decade.

Penpushing also reports that many described the installation of new chiefs as an important step in strengthening the traditional structure and preparing the community for greater development.

The newly installed chiefs were charged to uphold the cultural heritage of Ilagbe, support the Baale in community administration and contribute to peace, development and unity among residents.
