Murder prime suspect, escapes from police custody
Segun Showunmi in Ibadan The prime suspect in the serial and incessant killings in Moniya located in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, Sunday Shodipe has escaped from police custody in Ibadan, the state capital. Penpushing reports that, Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer,Gbenga Fadeyi made this known in a statement recalling that the 19 year old suspect was suspected killer/ritualist, who was arrested and paraded along with two others at the State Police Command on 17th July, 2020 and later charged to court but remanded in Police custody, from where he escaped. The statement added that the Commissioner of Police Nwachukwu Enwonwu in the statement implored the public to assist in arrest of the runaway suspect, and appealed to any member of the public with credible information as to the where about of the suspect not to hesitate in passing same to the command to assist in the apprehension of the offender who is now at large. Penpushing further reports that the police boss assured residents that the command is committed to their protection, with adequate security measures put in place to enable all and sundry transact their lawful businesses in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The Commissioner warned criminal elements to exit from the State, and also called on angry youths/mobs to avoid taking laws into their hands by carrying out jungle justice when suspected criminals are arrested, declaring that such suspect(s) should be handed over to the Police. |
