Motorists, commuters commend Governor Abiodun on effective reconstruction of Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos expressway

Motorists and commuters have applauded the Ogun State Government for the ongoing reconstruction of the Abeokuta–Ifo–Sango-Ota–Lagos expressway, describing the pace and quality of work as commendable.
Penpushing reports that notable among them is the traditional ruler of Itori, Oba Abdul Fatai Akorede Akamo, who commended Governor Abiodun for taking decisive steps to fix the road, which had been abandoned by successive administrations.
“This road has been abandoned for so many years, but Governor Abiodun took the bull by the horns and committed to its reconstruction. Though it is a federal road, he said he would complete it, and he has started. I have never witnessed such a governor in this state since my enthronement, who says something and achieves it’, Akamo stated.
Penpushing further reports that the royal father described Abiodun as a man of the people, pointing out that the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in ensuring progress on the project cannot be left out.
The transporters which include a commercial driver, Opeyemi Akindele, hailed the government on the project noting that accident rates and traffic congestion have reduced significantly since work began.
“Before now, some sections of this road looked like swimming pools. Vehicles broke down constantly, and we were forced to drive one-way. But today, the movement of vehicles is smooth. Governor Abiodun is doing very well’, he said.
Penpushing also reports that he, however, appealed for the construction of a trailer park between Papalanto Junction and the Lafarge Cement Plant to prevent articulated vehicles from obstructing traffic.
The residents of Papalanto and its environs echoed similar sentiments, while one of them, Ololade Anjolaoluwa praised the government for reducing traffic gridlock in the area, and similarly Akande Michael commended the project’s quality and urged the contractors to complete it within schedule.
Penpushing reports that it will be recalled that the Governor flagged off the reconstruction of the road on August 23, 2024, with an 18-month completion timeline, while as at the time of this report five construction gangs are working simultaneously at Olomore, Midgad/Metroxide, Papalanto Junction, Owode.
The others include Toll Gate axis, with earthworks, stone base, drainage, and asphalt already completed in parts, while repairs have also been effected at Brewery, Obada, Itori Junction, and up to the Lafarge Cement Factory in Ewekoro, easing traffic flow for motorists.
