Moshood Abiola Sports Complex to host international football matches, says Nigeria Football Federation President
The President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has disclosed that the Super Falcons would on June 3rd play the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon in an International friendly match at the Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola International Sport Complex, Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that Gusau made this known when he led other Executive members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on a courtesy call on the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta.
The federation boss added that the Complex would host Burkina-Faso, Cote d’voire, Niger, Togo, Benin, Ghana and Nigeria in a West Africa Football Union (WAFU) under 17 Championship in September, 2025.
“We are organising a friendly match for our senior female national team, the Super Falcons against the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon which will take place by the end of this month. We have arranged a two-legged match, the first leg will be played on the 31st of May and the second will be played on the 3rd of June’.
“So, we plan to play the first match on the 31st of May in Remo Stars stadium and the second match to be played in Abeokuta, so, the match on the 3rd of June will be played in the MKO Abiola International Sport Complex’, he said.
Penpushing further reports that Governor Abiodun in his remarks, appreciated the management of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for restructuring and repositioning the Premier League which now occupies its pride of place among premier leagues all over the world.
The Governor assured that, his administration would be working towards developing the sports economy in the state, adding that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the National Sports Festival (NSF) becomes a reference point in the hosting history of the festivals in the nation.
Penpushing also reports that Abiodun praised Remo Stars Football Club for lifting the Nigeria Professional Football League after over 20 years of seeing a football club from the state or the South West achieving such a feat.
The Governor equally pledged his support at ensuring that the state-owned team reclaims its place of pride among comity of football teams in the country.
