Mohbad’s properties in custody of mother-in-law, married wayward wife, bereaved father tells coroner

The father of Ilerioluwa Aloba, the late musician popularly called Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, on Wednesday said the deceased’s landed property were in the custody of his mother-in-law, adding that the deceased often told him about his possessions held by his wife and her family.

Penpushing reports that the bereaved father made this known when he ,appeared before a Lagos State coroner over an inquiry into his son’s death, adding that late musician wife is of wayward character, and often time put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house.

The father told the panel headed by Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that he and his son lived together for 18 years, adding that he left his house in December 2019, at the age of consent to stay with Azeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley to assist him as a way to boost his own (Mohbad) musical career.

‘I shared 18 years together with my son, and he had no record of any terminal disease. I only took him to a chemist when he was 16 for treatment of rashes. I don’t trust his wife. My son told me she always put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house’, he stated.

Penpushing further reports that Aloba said he did not know the exact house in which his late son was living with Naira Marley, stating that he saw the deceased three days before his death, and equally saw the deceased’s casket only in a picture.

The father of the late singer informed the panel that he (Mobhad) made efforts to reconcile me with his mother, and also bought a car for him after reconciling with his mother, before his controversial death on September 12, 2023 at age 27

Penpushing also reports that the panel at the commencement of the proceedings commiserated with Aloba on his son’s death which generated controversies with assurance that justice would be served in the case.

Meanwhile, it is recalled that Yaba Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, had on October 4, 2023 remanded Marley and a Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu known as Sam Larry), in police custody over the death of Mohbad.
