Mohbad’s death: Court remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry, two others
The controversial Nigerian musician Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley has been remanded alongside three other suspects over alleged conspiracy and murder of singer Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.
Penpushing reports that a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of the 32 year-old singer and others whose identities include Ogedengbe Fisayo (37); Ayobami Sadiq (27) and Samson Eletu(45).
The Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun, ordered the remand for 21 days in the police State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) and adjourned the case until 25 October, 2023, and also ordered that the suspects be granted access to medicals and lawyers of their choice.
Penpushing further reports that the legal officers for the police led by Umaru Bello and Augustine Nwabuisi had earlier prayed the court to remand the suspects for 30 days to establish that an offense was committed

Penpushing also reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement equally confirmed arrest of the nurse who injected Mohbad had been arrested, as protest followed the controversial death of the singer
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in similar vein, ordered a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic passing of Mohbad, to be conducted by the Lagos State Police Command.
Penpushing further reports that Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi made this known in a statement, explaining that the direct and urgent directive was issued during a brief and crucial discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
The statement added that Egbetokun tasked the Commissioner of Police to quickly and effectively unravel the truth behind the tragedy as there have been understandable concerns and speculations surrounding the circumstances of his untimely demise.
Penpushing also reports that the police boss equally urged any family members or close associates of the deceased possessing valuable information pertaining to this case to come forward and cooperate with the Lagos State Police Command to ensure that justice is served and the circumstances surrounding his (Mohbad) demise are thoroughly examined.
The Lagos State Police Command in swift response initiated the commencement of full-scale criminal investigation into the case, having constituted a Special Investigation Team within the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to coordinate the investigation.
The Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement said the Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa a raised a team which comprises seasoned homicide detectives, and tasked them to aggregate all allegations, suspicions and insinuations from various sources on the death of the singer.
Penpushing also reports that the statement added that the team is to undertake a professional, diligent and timely investigation with a view to establishing facts, clearing all doubts and ensuring that justice is manifestly served through a meticulous process that will deploy all requisite protocols (which may include exhumation), as well as technical and scientific tools that are vital to the detailed investigation of homicide allegations of this nature.

Penpushing further reports that Hundeyin said in aid of this initiative, the Lagos State Government has pledged its total support to the Special Investigation Team in all ways required to guarantee a diligent investigative exercise.
The statement stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave this assurance while consulting with the Commissioner of Police earlier on how best to ensure that the case is expeditiously investigated and justice delivered promptly.
Penpushing also reports that the command made an appeal to the deceased’s family, friends, business associates or anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to share same with the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department on 08036885727 and to optimally support the Police in the drive for a conclusive investigation of the case.
The statement made available to journalists added that Lagos State Police Command assured that progress of the investigation will, as much as legally and professionally permissible, and wil be shared with the general public accordingly.
