Mob attacks soldiers in Abuja

Two soldiers were on Saturday attacked by mob at the popular Banex Plaza in the Wuse 2 District of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at about 4.00pm, as seen in a video which went viral on X.

Penpushing reports that about fifteen persons were captured in the video as the mob chased the two soldiers who tried to fight back, but as at the time of filing this report, it was not clear what might have led to the ugly development

The video revealed that one of the soldiers was overpowered by the mob who hit him hard with objects, while the other one tried to escape but was pushed by his attackers who also hit him repeatedly, while it could not be ascertained what the offence the soldiers committed to warrant the assault.

Penpushing further reports that some videos later surfaced on social media platforms showing some military personnel storming the plaza in an apparent retaliation, while as at the time of this report the spokesperson of Nigerian Army, Major-General Army, Onyema Nwachukwu could not be reached.

The shop owners within the vicinity as revealed in the videos were seen running helter-skelter as additional number of soldiers arrived the scene, while some civilians were seen being punished by the soldiers.
