Middle aged man killed over ‘land dispute’ in Enugu State

A 55-year-old man, Joseph Ogbonna, has been reportedly murdered by an unknown assailant in his compound at Ama-afor, Ovoko in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Penspushing reports that Ogbonna’s head was reportedly smashed with a moulded brick while he was sleeping on Saturday night, while his lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood on the floor by his neighbor, Silas Ugwuoke who went to see him over a matter on Sunday morning

Penpushing further reports that residents suspected that the deceased must have been killed over a disputed piece of land,adding that the late Ogbonna  had a dispute with a suspect now at large over a piece of land, saying that his death should be linked to the issue.

The police detectives from Ibagwa, the headquarters of the Igboeze South Local Government as at the time of this report have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder.

Penpushing further reports that, confirming the incident ,the Enugu State Police Command  Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe,  said that, ‘Joseph Ogbonna was murdered in his home at Ovoko, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State by an unknown assailant.

“Our men have launched manhunt for the perpetrator(s) and we are working assiduously to bring whoever has a hand in the dastardly act to book”, he said
