METROPOLITAN BROADCASTING SERVICES CHERISH PROFESSIONALISM, SAYS OWOLABI OLADEJO

Speaking as a guest lecturer during a program to commemorate this year Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State NUJ Information Chapel press week, with  theme: “INEC, Politician, Media And The Quest For Credible Election”, which was held at Wester Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan, Oladejo said integrity, competence, hardworking and compassion remain  guidelines of  the staff.

He said the media as the fourth estate of realm control the minds of the people pointing out that whatever, they(media) put on air or newspapers go a long way to influence the mind of the people.

Hear him’ our two sister stations are known for professionalism and unbiased reportage, we are always guided by the law and ethics of professionalism and this is what place us ahead of others.

Penpushing further reports that, Oladejo added that there is a mechanism put in place to checkmate any news story that will go on air on the two stations so that the masses will not be misled by wrong information.

He explained, “I always ask my employees where they get their information because any news story that I cannot defend will not go on air or be broadcast, am doing this just to avoid false information that can mislead the people.

The Chairman reiterated further that Nigeria is in the hand of media, that is why integrity, competence, hardworking and compaction is very important before any news or information can be disseminated to people, stressing that he, as owner of a media house  has no personal interest or bias in any news or information to be broadcasst.

“Let us join hands to discourage falsehood information, everything coming from the media must be credible, you must able to provide evidence for any news story that will be broadcast or publish, and you must always have a fact to defend them’, he emphasised

While speaking on the topic of the press week, “INEC, Politicians, Media And The Quest For Credible Election” Oladejo posited that for any election to be credible in Nigeria, the entire process of Nigerian electoral law must be look into, noting that adequate measure should be put in place to make people belief and trust the government of conducting free, fair and credible election.

“Our electoral process has been confused because our politicians don’t have stable political party, none of the politicians think about genuine empowerment again, the electorates are confused and unless something is done, we might miss it.

He however urged the people, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), politicians, the media, and all other stakeholders to join hands so that Nigeria can have free, fair, and credible election come 2019.
