Lockdown: youths, police in gun, acid attack in Anambra State

The total lockdown in Anambra State took a dangerous dimension on Thursday as some youths engaged police in an acid attack,following alleged gun shot on some of them in the town.

Penpushing reports that, the police taskforce were reported to be chasing some youths found drinking at a beer parlour at New Tyre Nkpor market, Onitsha said to be in contrary with the lockdown order

The source said in the course of the chase, a spray bullets allegedly hit two the boys, necessitating counter attack by others, who in process allegedly used acid against the police

Penpushing further reports, sources said one of the shot boys allegedly died on the spot, while the other was rushed to the hospital, as at the time of filing this report.

The Commissioner of Police, John Abang while reacting to the incident said the young man identified as Ebuka Agbaja, resident of Frank More Street,Nkpor was shot by a police officer identified as Corporal Christopher Ozor.

Penpushing also reports that, the police boss said, it was in self defence the policeman acted,adding that this followed acid attack on the police patrol team

The police boss who presented evidences of the attack called on Ndi Anambra to stop taking laws into their hands,and to adhere strictly to the sit at home order as the lockdown lasted.

Penpushing reports that, some residents of the area which include; Messrs Emmanuel Azudiugu and Anthony Enuke expressed displeasure over the ugly development, and called on State Government to investigate the matter
