Medical Doctor, 7 others confirmed dead in Kaduna-Abuja train attack
A Dental Surgeon, Dr Chinelo Megafu has been confirmed dead alongside seven other passengers following gun shots by bandits who attacked the passengers train on Monday along Kaduna-Abuja road
Penpushing reports that, the young Doctor was rushed to the hospital after the attack, and while on hospital twitted that, she had been shot while aboard the ill-fated train, and called for prayers for her survival.
The colleague of he deceased identified as Michael Ajidahun, on update of the development, lamented that he woke up to learnt the lady was shot by the terrorists, stressing that he was heartbroken
“Just woke up to a sad news My friend just woke up to losing a close friend who was shot at the Abuja Kaduna train incident by terrorists She tweeted yesterday that we should pray for her. Sadly she didn’t make it. She was a Doctor Nigeria why..I’m heartbroken”, he twitted
Penpushing further reports that, another friend, said the deceased was bound to relocated abroad on Friday, having resigned last month and was processing her travelling papers, before the sad incident
“Dr Chinelo was making an honest living, she was working at St Gerald’s hospital in Kaduna, she wanted more for herself and processed her papers to leave this hell-hole. She resigned last month to leave the country this Friday then this happened. Nigeria why???”she tweeted
Penpushing also reports that the Kaduna State Government in a statement said it has received from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the detailed passenger manifest for the Abuja-Kaduna train service AK9 which was attacked by terrorists on Monday.”
The Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, said the documents received showed that 398 passengers bought tickets for the trip, but 362 were validated as having boarded the train through the recognized turnstile
Penpushing reports that, Aruwan said eight bodies have been recovered while many passengers are yet to be accounted for, as well as 26 persons injured, adding that investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the status of the passengers who were on board the train and remain unaccounted for at the time of this update.
‘Citizens are requested to contact the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency on the phone line 09088923398, to make enquiries or provide information regarding passengers who were on board the Abuja-Kaduna train AK9’, the statement emphasised.
