Man stabs cousin to death over mango
A man identified as Chinedu Omeonu has stabbed his cousin to death in Mgboko Mgboko Umuoria in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, following a disagreement over mango, a development which threw the community into shock and mourning.
Penpushimg reports that, the victim’s son was said to have had gone to the home of his uncle(Omeonu), to pick dropped mangoes, but was badly beaten to state of unconsciousness, a development which angered the father. .
The child’s father, Solomon Orji, was reported to have hurried to his cousin’s house to find out why his son was badly beaten, a development which led to verbal altercation by the duo, while Orji later took his son home.
Penpushing further reports that, an eyewitnesses said,Orji, thereafter walked home, but to the amazement of the community, Omeonu reportedly armed himself with a cutlass and went after Orji before stabbing him at the base of the neck and died instantly.
The shocking development angered youth of the community and arrested Omeonu who was subsequently handed over to the police.
Penpushing also reports that, when contacted the Abia State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in police custody and would be prosecuted after investigation.
