Veteran journalists mourn Olubadan

The League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State, has condoled the immediate family of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan-in-Council and the entire people of Ibadanland on the transition into glory of Oba Owolabi Akinloye Ige Olakuleyin, the 45th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Penpushing reports that the league in a condolence message, signed by the Chairman, Mr Banji Ogundele, and Mr Bisi Bakare (Public Relations Officer), respectively, said the passing into glory of the Olubadan was a lesson about the saying that no matter how long it takes, when God works, it’s always worth the wait.

The league recalling the difficulties surrounding his accession, said the end justified the means, lamenting that the league received the news with shock and dismay especially since the monarch turned 90 at the weekend, which was celebrated with pump and pageantry and was preparing for his first anniversary on the throne.

Penpushing further reports that the veteran journalists in the statement praised the wisdom with which the late traditional ruler ruled and the many successes he achieved during the period.

The league added that the deceased used the wealth of experience he gained in the army and in the civil service thereafter to bring peace and prosperity to the ancient town, recalling that that the era of the late Olubadan was a milestone as he was the first Olubadan to move to the newly constructed Imperial Palace at Oke-Are.

Penpushing also reports that the league in the statement pointed out that Olakulehin reign was short, but it was purposeful, peaceful and remarkable, full of love, wisdom, and generosity

The league prayed God to repose the soul of the departed and give his immediate family, the Governor of Oyo State, the Olubadan-in-Council and all Ibadan citizens at home and in the Diaspora the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
