Mama Rainbow clocks 82, says she feels 45, fabulous everyday
Veteran actress Idowu Phillips, popularly called Mama Rainbow, has clocked 82-years declaring that life is just getting started for her, emphasising that age is just a number and still feeling 45, and fabulous everyday.
Penpushing reports that the Nollywood legend who once again inspired fans with her vibrant energy and positive outlook on life, took to her Instagram, where she shared a post celebrating her 82nd birthday, exuding youthful vigour and determination to embrace life to the fullest.
“Age is just a number! At 82, I’ve decided life is just getting started. I refuse to get old—feeling 45 and fabulous every single day!” a revered icon in the Nigerian entertainment industry wrote on her Instagram, accompanied by hashtags like #YoungAtHeart and #82IsTheNew45.
Penpushing further reports that the celebrator was born on 16 October 1942 at Ijebu Ode town in Ogun State, South-West Nigeria, attended African Methodist School and Anglican Modern School for her primary and secondary education.
The stage name “Iya Rainbow” stems from “Osumare” (meaning “rainbow” in British English), the name of the theatre group of Sir Hubert Ogunde, who died in 1990, while record has it that she worked as a healthcare assistant in General Hospitals in Nigeria for several years and occasionally acted in theatre.
Penpushing also reports that she ventured into full-time acting after the death of her husband – Augustine Ayanfemi Phillips (who worked closely with the late patriarch of Nigerian Film Industry Sir Herbert Ogunde.
The renowned actress has featured in several Nigerian films, including Apaadi, Eru and Aje ni iya mi among others, and she is a brand Ambassador for Airtel, a telecommunication company, as well as an Ambassador for Yotomi Golden Estate, a low-cost housing estate project, initiated by the late movie mogul Alade Aromire.
