Lockdown: Power tussle tears apart transition committee in Ogun State over palliatives distribution

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abeokuta South Local Government led by Ayodeji Somide  is now facing crisis challenges over power tussle between the transition committee of the  council over palliatives distribution in the council area.

Penpushing reports that, the latest crisis was linked to the distribution of palliatives for the residents of the local government, with the supervisor for health, Iyabode Adebambo said to be from former Governor Olusegun Osoba’s camp allegedly sidelined from the scheme of arrangements.

The investigation conducted by Penpushing revealed that a meeting held at the secretariat of the local government located in Ake area of Abeokuta on Friday was almost stalemated as the supervisor for Health was allegedly ordered out from the venue, and regarded as an outcast by the council leadership.

Penpushing further reports, that the ‘sin’ of the female committee member was not made known, but political sources revealed that, the decision was attributed to alleged display of power by the leadership to allegedly deal with Osoba’s faithful of the party.

The sources also revealed that, with over ten meetings held by the 5-member trasition committee, the female member had not been in the know, nor invitation passed across to her, adding that, she also has no functional operational office in the council.

Penpushing also reports that following this ugly development, a report was made to the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said to be in charge of local government affairs, but as at the time of filing this report, it was not yet clear what has been the position of the Deputy Governor on the ongong internal  crisis.

The findings equally showed that, the distribution of palliatives so far donated to residents of the local government, was carried out without the knowledge of the female member of the committee, who is the supervisor on health.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach leadership of the crisis ridden committee, nor any of its members proved abortive, with majority keeping sealed lip over the ugly development
