Lions club collaborates community development association with provision of borehole in akinale
The Lions Club, Abeokuta in association with Towulade Akinale and Akinale Community Development Association (CDA), have sunk a borehole with submersible pumping machine and generator to supply portable water for Akinale Community and environs.
Penpushng reports that the water project was commissioned by the traditional ruler of Akinale Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, who was accompanied by Lion Club members from Abeokuta and officials of Akinale Community Development Association(CDA).
The royal father commended the Lions Club for their humanitarian services, and also gave kudos to some of his old friends and journalists from home and abroad who are constantly touching the lives of Akinale Community through their humanitarian donations.
Penpushing further reports that the Lions Club from Abeokuta has also promised to assist Akinale community to erect a primary health centre in the town, while it is equally on record that for the past 10 year, the Rotary Club of Abeokuta has adopted Akinale for regular social-economic intervention, with women in Akinale on a regular microfinance loans to boost their subsistence trading and food production.
The town hall in Akinale, built through communal efforts since 1978 and had been a venue of cultural expositions in the town and where the village square meetings hold for public interactions, had been destroyed by natural disaster of heavy storm.
Penpushing also reports that, for the past two years, neither the local Government nor the Community Development Ministry in Ogun State, have shown interest to utilise ecology fund to repair the building.
