LifeSupport Network decries non-inclusion of wellbeing of children in nation’s developmental plans

The Life Support Network, a charity organisation has decried non-inclusion of comprehensive well-being of children and youth into the nation’s developmental plans calling on the government to respect the fundamental rights of children and youths.
Penpushing reports that Chief Executive Officer of the network, Miss Itunuola Ajayi said this in a press release made available to journalists the occasion of this year’s World’s Children’s Day, held in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
The Chief Executive noted that such an omission has enough tragic power to drive the collective destiny of the nation to the threshold of a calamitous future, saying that over 17.5 million children are either orphaned or vulnerable, adding that 95percent of these children do not receive any official assistance related to their medical, emotional, social, and school-related needs. ‘
Penpushing further reports that, Ajayi said the government should ensure that such basic rights as quality education and healthcare, clean water and functional education infrastructure should be accessible to of every child
The network boss advocated for the review of the basic education curriculum to include skill-development crafts, adding that children have the natural talents for innovations, therefore the government should include innovative skills display programs in the school curriculum “.
Penpushing also reports that Life Support Network, also partners Oral Health Africa Initiative, to donate cash and other incentives items to children in orphanage homes and schools across the six South-Western states.
The donations were done in commemoration of this year ‘World Children’s Day’ by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICF), with the theme “Reimaging a better future for every child”.
The event which was held across the six South-West States simultaneously featured various events focused and designed to appeal to children and youth’s natural mentality, preferences and imaginations.
Penpushing further reports that financial donations and palliatives were given to needy children, while, Oral Health Africa Initiative, another Non-Government Organisation partnering with Life Support also gave oral health tests and talks to orphanage homes.
The school children in South-West were involved in pitching exercises, showcasing the better future of their dreams, there was intense career talk sessions, health and sexuality talk sessions which was accompanied by a heated interactive session of questions and detailed answers by volunteering members of LifeSupport Network.
Penpushing reports that, the Network believed that the kids who were the principal beneficiaries of the outreaches were given the fresh impetus to reset their imagination to capture a future unlimited by their circumstantial contexts and positioning.
The beneficiaries however thanked the Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs) for their intervention, calling on the government for the provision of proper and accessible healthcare system, good education, and provision of food for children.
