Kwara United apologises to fans for Confederation Cup exit
Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin on Monday apologised to its fans and other stakeholders for crashing out of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup in the preliminary stage.
Penpushing reports that the apology of the club was contained in a statement by its chairman Kumbi Titiloye who described the early exit as painful and regrettable following the club lost 5-3 on aggregate to Asante Kotoko of Ghana on Sunday in Abeokuta
The club boss pleaded with fans to forgive the team, assuring them that Kwara United was determined to bounce back stronger, lamenting that it was not in the interest of the club to crash out
“We apologise to our teeming and loyal fans and supporters for this unfortunate result. It was never our plan to crash out at this early stage. We are poised to come back stronger, make amends in the league, and give our supporters something to cheer about’’Titiloye stated
Penpushing also reports that the club needed an outright win to secure a place in the next round, but a lone strike by Hubert Gyalu in the 53rd minute sealed victory for the Porcupine Warriors in the return leg.
