Kresta Laurel did not install collapsed cocoa house elevator, says management
The management of Kresta Laurel Limited has disassociated itself from the collapsed elevator at the Cocoa House building which claimed live of a person and others injured on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
Penpushing reports that, the Managing Director of the company, Engr Dideolu Falobi made the clarification in reaction to falsehood information trending on social media in respect of the unfortunate incident, where some mischief makers linked the organization with the incident
‘Our attention has been drawn to information trending on the social media in respect of the unfortunate incident on one of the old and non-functioning elevators at the Cocoa House, Ibadan which happened on January 6, 2021’, Falobi said.
Penpushing further reports that, the company while sympathizing with the management of Cocoa House, family and friends of the victims of the incident took time to explain that, the affected elevators have nothing to do with those installed by the company about ten years ago, which are perfectly in order till date
‘While we sympathize with the management of Cocoa House, the family and friends of the victims of the incident, we are constrained by the linking of our name to the incident to clarify as follows: Four elevators were installed in Cocoa House, Ibadan about 30 years ago. Kresta Laurel Limited replaced two of the elevators about ten years ago and both elevators are working and are in good condition’.
Penpushing also reports that, Falobi shed more lights emphasizing that, the management of Cocoa House decided to replace one of the remaining two elevators, which was awarded to another firm
‘The Management of Cocoa House decided to replace one of the remaining two elevators and the contract for the replacement was awarded to another contractor NOT KRESTA LAUREL LIMITED’, he stressed.
Penpushing reports that the statement added, that the accident happened while the elevator was being dismantled in readiness for the installation of a new one by the new contractor, debunking the speculations and insinuations that Kresta Laurel or any of its staff was affected in the whole incident.
‘Again, our condolences go to the family of the dead and we pray that the injured would be restored to perfect health. For emphasis, we reiterate that neither Kresta Laurel Limited nor any of its staff or agents were involved in this incident’, Falobi emphasised.
