Kingmakers appoint Olakulehin as next Olubadan of Ibadan

The Ibadan Kingmakers have appointed Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadaland, following a meeting of the Olubadan-In-Council at Oja’ba held on Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

Penpushing reports that the Olubadan-In-Council made the announcement known at the meeting which had in attendance Olakulehin, whose health status has been generating worries among the people of the ancient town.

The Otun Balogun Olubadan, Tajudeen Ajibola who is one of the kingmakers and a member of the Olubadan-In-Council, had earlier disagreed with other members of the council on the health status of the appointed monarch.

Penpushing further reports that Ajibola who was absent at Friday’s meeting convened by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Rashidi Ladoja insisted that Olakulehin is sick and unfit to rule and should be allowed to recuperate before taking over the Olubadan throne.

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland speaking with journalists after the meeting, explained that the kingmakers concluded the appointment process of  Olakulehin as the next Olubadan, stating that it was now left for Governor Seyi Makinde to approve Olakulehin’s nomination.

‘The letter will get to the governor as soon as possible. We hope he gives his consent. There’s no how the Governor will not accept because we did what is right. As soon as he approves, we will proceed with the coronation ceremony’,Ladoja said.
