JOIN HANDS IN FIGHTING CORRUPTION TO STANDSTILL, CRIME COMMISSION BOSS URGES NIGERIAN
The Commission boss noted that it is the responsibility of all Nigerians to join hands in fighting corruption to the barest minimum and make the country better for the incoming generations, stating that if Nigerians fail to act, ‘we will all suffer the consequence, so, there is a need for all Nigerians to work together to ensure that corruption is reduced to the barest minimum’.
Penpushing further reports that, he noted that most of the suspects arrested by the commission are youths between the age of 18 to 40 years, who have potentials to move this country forward, adding that parents needs to inculcate and advice their children not to do anything that is contrary to the law.
“Nigerians should show more commitment in fighting against corruption, parents should continue to guide and advice their children to follow the right path, and they should also educate them on the danger of illegal transaction and joining bad gang.”
Penpushing also reports that, Ebelo pointed out that the essence of the press briefing was to showcase the success of the Ibadan Zonal office in the last six months in fighting corruption in Nigeria.
“Total sum of One Hundred and Sixteen Million, Nine Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-One Naira, Sixty-Eight Kobo was recovered which include some foreign currencies such as Thirty-Nine Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Five United States Dollars, One Thousand, Eight Hundred Euros, and Fifty Pounds, also, Fifty four registered vehicles and Eleven unregistered vehicles was also recovered”
The agency head noted that the Zonal office has in this year received a total of 481 petitions, and were able to secure 83 convictions out of the 107 cases filed at different courts within the zone, which represent 83% of the total number of cases filed.
“EFCC was created from Nigeria Constitution to tackle the menace of corruption, particularly those that fall under the genre of economic and financial crimes, the mandate has remained resolutely committed to since its inception in 2003 under the leadership of Ibrahim Magu.”
The Anti-graft boss however said that In line with the commission’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders in the fight against corruption, the Ibadan Zonal office is working assiduously to identify and connect with strategic stakeholders whose mission and vision are tailored towards ensuring a Nigeria that we will all be proud of.
