Jailbreak: Nigeria Correctional Service recaptures 21 prison inmates
The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) has re-arrested twenty-one out of the 262 inmates who escaped from the Jos custodial centre after gunmen attacked the facility on November 28, 2021.
Penpushing reports that, the Public Relations Officer of the Centre, Geofrey Longdiem, disclosed this on Tuesday explaining that the Service had in collaboration with other security agencies was working assiduously to arrest the remaining inmates.
The Nigeria Correctional Service Jos, where the inmates escaped from said as at the time of filing this report, affirmed that 21 of the inmates were recaptures, adding that some of them voluntarily returned.
Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that gunmen stormed the facility in the late evening of Sunday and engaged the security personnel of the centre in a sporadic gun battle before advancing into the yard, but two of the escaped inmates were brought back to the custodial centre by their mother.
