ILIYASU, MAKAMA 12 OTHERS PROMOTED AS ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

The Police Service Commission added that six officers were promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General, with two of them asked to proceed on pre-retirement leave immediately, while four of the six newly-promoted Deputy Inspector Generals ( DIGs) will replace the four Deputy Inspector Generals( DIGs) that were recently retired.

Penpushing further reports that, the statement by the spokesman of the Police Service Commission(PSC) Ikechukwu Ani  said, they will also join the Police Management team led by the Inspector-General, adding that the announcement followed the retirement of Deputy Inspector Generals( DIGs) , Taiwo Lakanu, Godwin Nwobodo and Yakubu Jubrin, Usman Tili Abubakar from service earlier this month.

The approvals which came at the 6th plenary meeting of the Police Service Commission (PSC) chaired by its Chairman, Musiliu Smith, also disclosed identities of the six new Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) as include: Abdul Dahiru Danwawu, Lawal Shehu, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, Peter Ogunyanwo, who were Assistant Inspectors-General, and Alex Okpara and Celestine Okoye, who were elevated to Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) from the rank of Commissioner.

Penpushing also reports that, Messrs Ogunjemilusi and Okpara are to proceed on pre-retirement leave immediately, while the four new Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) to join the police management team are: Abdul Dahiru Danwawu, Lawal Shehu, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi and Celestine Okoye.

The commission also promoted 230 Superintendents of Police to the rank of Chief Superintendent, eleven Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents and 211 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents, while 41 Inspectors were also promoted to Assistant Superintendents (ASP1).

Penpushing reports that, the new Chief Supritendent of Police( CSPs) include; Kabiru Ishaq, Sufi Salisu Abdullahi, Dattijo Abdullahi, Bisiriyu Akindele, Faloye Folusho, Ngozi Faith Nwosu, Shehuddeen Yusuf Baba, Ibrahim Bashir, Benjamin Nlemchukwu Ugwuegbulam, Remigius Nnaemeka Ekpe, Tope Adewunmi Oparinde, Esther Ifeoma Nwaiwu, Victoria Olayinka Mulero and Ogbonnaya Nwota.

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission (PSC) in the statement emphasized and explained that the promotions were based on merit, seniority and availability of vacancies.
