Ijesa born retired soldier Fadugba Fasanmi dies at 82, burial to hold February 28
A veteran and retired soldier, Elder Fadugba Samuel Fasanmi from a distinguished lineage in Ikeji-Ile Ijesa town of Osun State has been reported dead at the Osun State Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife at age of 82.
Penpushing reports that a statement by the family explained that he died peacefully adding that arrangement for the burial is scheduled to hold between February 20, 2026 and March 1, 2026 in the ancient town.
The statement stated that service of songs will take place on February 20, 2026 by 3pm at W/2 Surulere street Ikare-Ugbe Akoko Ondo state, as well as wake keep on February 27, 2026 by 4pm at Odo-Okun Street off General Hospital, Ogbon
Penpushing further reports that the family disclosed that the final burial church service is scheduled to hold on February 28, 2026 from 11am at The Redeemed Christian Church of God Zonal Headquarters Ikeji-Ile, Osun state
The statement added that interment will follow immediately and reception slated for Mighty Crown Event Hall, Ikeji-Arakeji Rd, Ikeji-Ile Ijesha, Osun State, while thanksgiving will hold on March 1, 2026
Penpushing also reports that he was born on February, 2 1943, and began his primary education in St. Jude’s Primary School Ikeji Ile 1950 – 56, later followed his uncle to Osogbo to continue with his education in 1963.
The deceased completed his education as a modern 3 Certificate holder, and thereafter, left Osogbo after his modern 3 Certificate education to search for a green pasture in Lagos, while his education was marked by determination and excellence.
Penpushing reports that he joined the Nigeria Army in 1966, trained in Ikeja Cantonment and after his training he was sent to the battle field in Onitsha in 1967, and later got transferred from Onitsha to Benin,12 field Engineer, 2 division Benin City, Ikoba Hill Benin City.1970 -1972.
The late Fadugba popularly called ‘Old Soldier No dey die’’, after retirement from the military became a motor dealer, and moved to Ikare in Akoko to continue with his business, and during his life time, was a lover of Christ, who served God till his last breath.
Penpushing further reports that he came from a distinguished lineage, and was the beloved son of Chief Abraham Fasanmi Fabamifobe of Aro Family and Madam Ajebeku Iyun of (Iyun Baba Ileke Omo Pariola Fanily) both of Ikeji –Ile Ijesa.
The deceased was well known for his passion for hard work, his sense of humor’ a friend to people, who was happily married and blessed with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Penpushing also reports one of his old-time friend Mr. Joe Nwangbale described him as a friend indeed, known to be kind, and leaves behind not just memories, but legacy of family of respect and peace

Penpushing reports that junior sister of the deceased, Deaconess Victoria Kayode-Adedeji in a tribute titled, ‘My Dearest Brother Elder Samuel Fadugba Fasanmi’, said she finds it difficult to belief he was no more
‘My dearest brother, I found it difficult to belief you are no more, our last discussion on 31/7/2025. is still fresh in my memory. You left a huge, vacuum that only God can fill. You will forever remember’, she wrote.
‘Sleep on my darling brother you shall ever remain in my heart. You came, you saw, you conquered. Glory be to God. Sleep on till we meet to part no more in eternity. Adieu Egbon mi’, Kayode-Adedeji added.
