Ijebu East traditional rulers endorse council chairperson, Elizabeth Oyesanya

The members of Ijebu East Obas Forum have endorsed the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Hon.  Adetutu Elizabeth Oyesanya, for her sterling performance within a short period of assumption of office.

Penpushing reports that the traditional rulers at a meeting held at Ogbere, Ijebu local government headquarters on Friday poured encomiums on the council chairman for her strides in human empowerment.

The meeting equally established the performances of Oyesanya in infrastructural development, provision of boreholes and prompt response and interventions to the security challenges in the local government area.

Penpushing further reports at the meeting of the Obas Forum which was the first since the council chairman was sworn in October last year, the traditional rulers passed a vote of confidence on the council boss

The Oloko of Ijebu Imushin, Oba Stephen Onafowokan, moving the vote of confidence remarked that Oyesanya has been very responsive and accessible on issues concerning the local government, describing her as humble, responsible and a good listener.

Penpushing also reports that Oloko, therefore urged his colleagues to accord all necessary support and recommendation to the chairman, and on his own part Oyebola of Igbaga, Oba Martin Olatunde Adenaike, supporting the position of Oloko, commended the council boss for resuscitating the meeting of the Obas Forum.

The traditional ruler recalled that such gestures was last received about 15 years ago during the tenure of Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, who was the former chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state

Penpushing reports that the current chairman of the forum and Akija of Ikija, Oba Anthony Kayode Alakija, noted that within a short time in office, Oyesanya has demonstrated rare leadership prowess and therefore encouraged her not to rest on our oars.

The Council Chairman in her response thanked the royal fathers for their commendation and support since she assumed office, and sought for their continuous assistance and cooperation, especially in the areas of security and chieftaincy.

Penpushing further reports that the female local government chairperson, however, requested that the meeting of the Obas should henceforth be on a monthly basis; a request that was accepted by the royal fathers.

The chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government had earlier updated the Obas Forum on state of the council and the executed and ongoing projects of the council across the 11 wards in the local government area.

Penpushing also reports that among the programme and projects include, refurbishment of the Local Government Secretariat, which was last painted in 2008, partnering with the state government in the distribution of 6,310 bags of rice as Nigerian government’s palliatives to indigent people within Ijebu East.

The others are financial support/empowerment to pregnant and aged woman from the 11 wards of the council; sinking of nine boreholes with water tanks and power generating sets in nine wards between December 2023 and February this year; construction of a drainage at the flood-ridden part of Itako, Ijebu Ife and another drainage at Ajebandele.

Penpushing further reports that these include, Solar lights provided through the Ogun State Ministry of Rural Development to the following security outposts: Itele police post, Amotekun offices in Ogbere and Ijebu Imushin, Ife police station, Itamogiri police and Ijebu Imushin market.

The council boss disclosed that among projects listed for execution in the coming weeks are construction of a block of two classrooms at Imobi, reconstruction and expansion of the narrow bridge linking Ogbere, a bridge that has been in use since the colonial days; a drainage at Ajebandele among others.

Penpushing also reports that she assured the Council of Obas of her continuous effort to deliver dividends of democracy to the good people of Ijebu East Local Government and make life more meaningful for all and sundry in line with the ISEYA pillars of the Dapo Abiodun Administration.

The royal present at the meeting were His Royal Highnesses Oba Anthony Kayode Alakija, Akija of Ikija-Ijebu, who is the Chairman of the forum; Oba Mufutau Adesanya Kasali the Moyegeso of Itele Ijebu; Oba Abiodun Falade Adegbesan, Onitasin of Itasin-Imobi;

Penpushing reports that others include Oba S.A Onafowokan, Oloko of Ijebu-Imushin; Oba Olalekan Kasali, Obelu of Esure; Magunsen of Itamarun, Oba Joseph Abayomi Ade Fakoya; Oyebola of Igbaga, Oba Martin Olatunde Adenaike; and Ogirimadagbo Akin of Ilodo, and Oba Isiaka Olajide Ajede, who is the secretary of the forum.
